Electrical conduit (emt) for window bars.) Caution needs to be taken to look for any seems that over time split and may cut a birds foot when they grab and slide on bars. Wrap with electric tape if this occurs to prevent injury.

Insulated Mew
Chamber with astroterf for perch padding, padded table for bath pan and to keep birds with sensitive feet from hitting the floor with force.
Cool Down A Mew
Adding an Awning can keep birds at the window cooler. The tarp at the top reduces temperature by 5 degrees. Two of these inexpensive tarps drop it 10 degrees (can't get much more of a reduction from just shade.)
Cooling Down A Mew 2
If the center of the tarps are propped up, then water won't collect in the center.
Cooling Dwon A Mew 3
Fans can be added to supply a flow of air. The box on the right demonstrates how the fan can be covered from the elements (the box is open on the bottom and plastic was placed around the cardboard box to keep if from deteriorating.)
Balcony Mew Door
When living in an apartment, the balcony would work for a mew. Just put up a couple walls of 1 x 2's, some soft flooring I could easily clean and some cardboard visual barrier on the bottom and wa-la - a mew.
My First Mew
All I had was a deck in a condo I was renting. It worked.
Weathering Aear and Mew
Mew on right with doubble door entry (protectes against accedential escape.) Window on front and back.
Regular Mew
I think this is 8' X 8' x 7 or 8. ! window in the front and half of the roof is open to the sky. A slightly slanted roof provides some drainage of water. Locks secure the mew.
Tripple Mew Building
Mews on the left. Hallway on the right. Middle mew converted to a multi-purpose room.
Mew / Weathering Aera
An open design. Bars on roof an walls. A jump box for shelter from elements. This configuation usually has a perch in the center where the hawk's leash is teathered too. This prevents active birds from flying to the bars and wearing feathers.
Jump Box
This type of shelter can be used to shelter a raptor in an enclosure.
Shelf Perch
This perch is in a shed that is attached to a dog run. The dog kennels are below the perch. This shed has a window that can be completely blocked off from light. Makes for a safe perch at night. In a.m. the bird can be transfered to a weathering aera.
